CRAFTS:AN ADVENT CALENDAR

This school year we decided to do our own Christmas Calendar.After searching some information(with their partners or individually),they shared the projects and designs to the rest of the class.The votes were for this one.We thought it was easier.But the result was quite good. NEON THE FISH

This is a story of a little fish.I found it at "Surprise 1" ,OUP.These kids tell it to you acting with the homemade masks.They have decided which character they wanted to be.

HOW ANIMALS CARRY THEIR BABIES

Welcome to our blog.We were on holiday for summer.Now we are starting calmly. One of the topic is about animals.I know you like them a lot,I found this video where we can learn a bit more about them.In this case it is about the way they carry their babies.

OUR SCHOOL GARDEN

This is the result of a project made by all the group of 4th level.We were learning about the minibeasts,that´s why we decide to investigate which one of them were living in the school garden.At the same time,we see that they need flowers,bushes and trees.Our school is a very special place for all the children,teachers and their families.

ENVIRONMENTAL DAY

Yestarday was the Environment Day.We want to remember all the community how important is it.The photo was taken last year at the beach of Celeiro,where we were cleaning it.This is an amazing sculture with the rubbish found that day!!!!!

GENDER EQUALITY FILM

We are learning,discovering,discuting,working about Gender Equality.Thanks to Brittish Council(Connecting Classrooms) for the idea,PDFs and support. Awra Ambra is a community in the region of Amhara in Ethiopia.This short video portrays the rights and responsibilities of those living in this community.

CELEIRO IN THE PAST

Laureano Míguez Salgueiro,a 80 years old sailor from Celeiro,visited us at school.He was talking to our pupils from 5th level,how it was living in their village in the past and today.They are working on a project comparing  how it was in the past and how is it today. An amazing and incredible experience for all us.The oportunity to watch a "film",the film of his own life(very hard)and the chance to ask him questions about the power point he showed us.All these photos are from that day.His brother Vicente,who is a teacher at our school,allowed me to post them here.Thanks a lot for your interest and help!

CELEIRO IN THE PAST

IMITATING MARUJA MALLO´S STYLE

Maruja Mallo was born in Viveiro (Lugo) in 1902. Her real name was Ana María Gómez González. In 1922 she moved to Madrid with her family. She studied at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where she met Salvador Dalí, who introduced her to the world of Surrealism and the Generation of '27. She illustrated poems by Rafael Alberti, such as "La pájara pinta". In 1927 she met Ortega y Gasset, and worked as an illustrator for "Revista de Occidente". Her first solo exhibition took place in the halls of said publication, and proved to be very successful. In the 1930s she travelled to Paris, where she met André Breton, amongst others, and her work became immersed in Surrealism. Back in Spain she worked as a teacher. When the Spanish Civil War broke out, she was exiled to Argentina. In 1939 she painted her most important work: "El canto de la espiga". She returned to Spain in the 1960s. She died in Madrid in 1995.

 Last 1st of April it was celebrated the Art Day in Galicia.This year it was in her honour  .Pupils from 6th level tried to imitate her style.You can see the result.

MY FAVOURITE BOOK

Reading books it´s a pleasure.They have an incredible power .These pupils from 3rd level primary education,want to share with all of you which ones they like.

A BOOK OR FILM REVIEW

Yesterday it was the World Book and Copyright Day.To celebrate it we want to share with you this video, where pupils from 6th level primary education make a review talking about their favourite ones.They are developing an interest in literature and cinema.They become exposed to their classmates,to other books or films.Maybe they can enjoy some of them.

THE GINGERBREAD MAN

This is our first year having a Language Assistant.He is with us at school for six hours a week.This group(3rd level),is with him for 20 minutes a week.In their timetableit is Reading Time.The Gingerbread Man was read at this period.Our school library has a programme called:Reader Sponsor.That´s why they performed it in front of an audience:all children at school in two different groups!!!

MY FAVOURITE TRANSPORT

These are the favourite transports of 1st level pupils.They say what they can see and what colour is the transport they have got in the picture.They took the photos and recorded their voices .

OUTDOOR DRAWINGS

These are the drawings made indoors and outdoors school.We can see some trees,leaves,lemons,the pool,...It was a bit difficult drawing and colouring.Firstable they made a sketch a wonderful sunny day.Then they had to finish it a rainy day.They enjoyed it very much.

PORTRAITS

Drawing upside down was the technique pupils from 6th level used to create these wonderful portraits.The faces don´t look the same in this position.We see lines and shapes,instead of familiar things.The visual cues don´t match.It was a fantastic visual exercise .And the result is amazing!! YOU CAN BE A ROBOT

Last week we were inventing and designing robots.We have got lot of different versions.Todat we are going to learn the parts of the body with the help of this song.Then we are going to tell a story:"Is this your robot?";build our own robots;move like them,....and more funny and creative activities.May be one robot can visit us at school!!!!

Children from 2nd level have drawn and spoken about their favourite places at the countryside and where they live.This is the result.

Talking about an important family event allowed them to express pride in their families and share special memories.

DRESSING UP

Learning about clothes we dressed up at the English class with different clothes we´ve got in the costume box.It is very useful at any time.When we finish,we went back to their classroom and their teacher Mary recorded the video.It was very funny.They decided what to wear and they dressed up alone!!!!(mums and dads!!) KIWI JUICE

Last Friday we were gathering the kiwies at our school orchard.Later we made kiwi juice with some of them.It was a funny and healthy experience.The result was quite good.The kiwies weren´t ripe but .... we drank  all of it!
